Russ Gallemore

Founder and President

Russ Gallemore is the Founder and President of K & L, a privately owned full-service transportation and supply chain solution provider.

Russ started his career in the logistics industry driving a straight truck for a regional auto supply company. After a few years on the road, he became the night operations manager at Argents Air Express (now Argents Express Group), an air freight forwarder. During the day, Russ would make telemarketing calls and schedule appointments for Argents’ Sales Manager.
Demonstrating a clear acumen for business development and building relationships, Russ transitioned into Argents’ sales department, eventually leading the department and achieving the highest profit per load in the company.

In 1997, Russ founded K & L Freight from his basement with the dream of operating a company that would provide the highest level of service and personal care for its customers while building a legacy for future generations. Russ never cared about the competition, because he felt he had none. Starting as a small expedited freight forwarder primarily running cargo vans, sprinters and straight trucks, Russ expanded K & L’s services in 2000 to include air freight to meet the needs of his growing customer base. In 2002, the company established its brokerage division. Eight years later, K & L began running its own tractor-trailers and in 2016, Russ launched K & L’s owner-operator trucking company, One8 Freight, which provides customers with an in-market asset presence that is particularly well-suited to the ever-changing marketplace of today.

Russ credits his success to always operating with honesty and integrity, outworking everyone else, and delivering a best-in-class customer experience, which is evidenced by the fact that his three original customers are still part of the K & L family to this day.

When not in the office or visiting customers, Russ loves spending time with his wife, children, four grandchildren and two boxers. An avid sports fan, Russ enjoys golfing and cheering on his beloved Blackhawks, White Sox, and Bears.

Lorri Cozzens

Chief Financial Officer

Lorri is responsible for K & L’s financial planning and forecasting, budget management, record-keeping, financial reporting, cash management, developing and implementing financial procedures and controls, as well as managing the financial risks of the company. In addition, Lorri provides daily oversight to the accounting team.

Lorri started her career in the logistics industry in 2006 at Dillon Transport where she held various roles including Director of Customer Service and Assistant Controller. As an Assistant Controller, Lorri was responsible for Dillon’s financial statements, general ledger, payroll, settlements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, and tax compliance, as well as auto rating and fuel tables, cash management, and asset management. In addition, Lorri served as the company’s sole McLeod superuser. Prior to joining Dillon, Lorri spent six years in the financial services sector.

Outside of the office, Lorri enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews, playing volleyball and travelling.

Manny De Alba

Chief Operating Officer

Manny is responsible for working with K & L’s President to manage the operations of the organization and execute K & L’s business strategy. Prior to this role, Manny served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Capacity Development. In this role, he was instrumental in developing the budgets and processes for K & L’s owner-operator trucking company, One8 Freight, and building the foundation for its future growth.

Before joining K & L, Manny held several roles of increasing responsibility at an asset-based trucking company including Director of Operations, Director of Retention and Standards and most recently, Vice President of Capacity Development and Contractor Services. Manny started his career in the logistics industry as a Transportation Manager at Fellowes.

When he is not at the office, you will likely find Manny at the gym. An avid history buff, Manny enjoys immersing himself in historical books and documentaries.

Patrick Draut

Senior Vice President, Business Intelligence

Patrick leads the data and business intelligence team at K & L. In his role, Pat utilizes data analysis techniques to proactively manage the business and identify trends, drive strategy and develop actionable business recommendations and optimizations across the K & L family of businesses.

After spending a majority of his career in the financial services and healthcare sectors, Patrick saw an opportunity within the logistics and supply chain management industry to improve upon systems and processes using data insights. Patrick has partnered with some of the leading innovators inside of the Big Data movement, and has brought his expertise developing visualizations that drive value creation to K & L.

Patrick earned his Masters of Business Administration from Boston’s Northeastern University and his Bachelor of Science in Communications and Psychology from Illinois State University.

When he is not poring over spreadsheets, you will likely find Pat cheering on the Cubs at Wrigley Field or coaching his son’s little league team.

Leigh Anne Espinosa

Senior Vice President, Business Processes and Innovation

Leigh Anne is responsible for overseeing K & L’s information technology infrastructure including designing and aligning systems and business processes to deliver a best-in-class user experience for customers, drivers, carriers, brokers, employees and other business partners.

Leigh Anne has held a variety of roles since she joined K & L in 2010 including Human Resources Manager, Marketing and Technology Manager, Growth and Technology Consultant, and Executive Vice President of Fleet and Brokerage Operations. In addition, she is a frequent panelist at the McLeod User Conference and serves on the McLeod Software Executive Advisory Committee.

Leigh Anne loves collaborating with her colleagues to continually elevate the business and extend an exceptional experience to all of our business relationships while staying true to the company’s founding values. To quote Leigh Anne, “What we do isn’t unique, but HOW we do it makes all the difference.”

Outside of the office, Leigh Anne enjoys spending time with her husband and three beautiful daughters, listening to live music and travelling. She particularly embraces the opportunity to be a role model to her children, encouraging them to follow their dreams, work smart and believe in all they can accomplish.

Barrett Kalinowski

Senior Vice President, Capacity Operations

Barrett is responsible for managing K & L’s capacity operations and overseeing the procurement strategy for servicing our enterprise customer business.

Barrett loves the fast pace and dynamic nature of the brokerage industry and particularly enjoys the challenge of working with carriers to deliver innovative solutions for customers.

After beginning his career as a carrier sales representative for a large 3PL, Barrett served as Director of Carrier Operations for a full-service brokerage and Manager of Truckload Operations for an asset-based company in the greater Chicago area prior to joining the K & L team. During his tenure as Director of Carrier Operations, Barrett was awarded Employee of the Year honors.

Barrett holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from the University of Iowa.

When he is not on the floor, Barrett enjoys spending time with his wife, Nancy, skateboarding with his sons, Isaac and Maksim, watching soccer, and cheering on the Cubs.
